According to Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino during a discussion at Tokyo Game Show 2024, he initially had no desire to make a new Professor Layton game, as he felt that the series had been completed with a "beautiful" conclusion. However, he was convinced to make a new game after hearing opinions from various individuals within the industry, noting how there was a strong push from a group he refers to simply as "Company N". While unconfirmed, it's believed that the identity of "Company N" is actually Nintendo, as they had published the series' DS and 3DS entries outside Japan.
