When Cosmic Carnage was released in Japan as Cyber Brawl, three of the alien characters (Cylic, Zena-Lan, and Naruto) were changed into humans, and all of the fighters except Naruto were renamed. The storyline that scrolls before the game's title screen was also completely rewritten, though it remained in English. Unlike most other games, the Cosmic Carnage version of the game can be played on a Cyber Brawl cartridge by plugging in a six-button controller and holding the B, X, and Z buttons on startup.
