Due to the Nintendo GameCube's low sales and the sales of certain third-party games on the system, major publishers such as Ubisoft Entertainment, Majesco, Electronic Arts, Eidos Interactive, LucasArts, Codemasters and Midway either scaled back games in development on the console, stopped releasing games in certain regions, or completely withdrew from supporting the console. As a result, they preferred to release games on Xbox and PlayStation 2, meaning some major titles skipped the console (such as the Grand Theft Auto series, Burnout 3: Takedown, and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance) or were scrapped (such as The Suffering, Far Cry Instincts, and Driv3r).
