Rune Factory 2 takes places approximately 10 years after Rune Factory. This can be inferred due to the common character in both games, Cecilia, being a child in the first game and an adult in the second.

Unused graphics found in the game's data show Ray wearing a wedding dress. It's possible that he may have originally been a woman and an eligible bachelorette. His appearance could pass for either a male or female, further supporting this theory.
