The arcade version was developed by Sega instead of Nintendo, who only published it. Sega approached creator Kazuyoshi Osawa with an offer to make the arcade version as Sega's staff really enjoyed playing the GBA version.

According to Ko Takeuchi, the onions and other vegetables in the mini-game "Rhythm Epilation" were meant to be realistic faces, but were replaced with the silly designs that Takeuchi made as the faces were "a little too gross."
