During a conversation with Mabel, Jeff the Gnome says that the gemulets that power the Gnome Kingdom's magic harness the essences of EARTH, FIRE, WATER, and WIND. Mabel then asks if there is a HEART gemulet, to which Jeff replies "Please don't belittle our culture. This is serious."

This is a reference to the cartoon show Captain Planet and the Planeteers, whose five main characters have rings assigned to them with a different element: "Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Heart."
