Devil Dice was originally created using the Sony-provided PlayStation homebrew development kit Net Yaroze. It is one of the very few Net Yaroze games that has gotten a commercial release and was Shift's first game release.

According to gamemuseum.es: "People like Kenkichi Shimooka, creator of Ape Escape, was introduced in the industry thanks to Net Yaroze. He got a job as a game programmer through... the official development kit. Or for example Devil Dice began as a project of Net Yaroze and thanks to Sony ended up being a commercial game that we could buy in stores next to games like Final Fantasy VII or Resident Evil."
