The original Alone in the Dark was going to be remade by Eden Games, who developed the critically panned 2008 sequel to the series, also titled Alone in the Dark. After the mostly negative response to the sequel, the remake was temporarily cancelled. Later however in 2018, Atari SA would sell the series rights to THQ Nordic, who would revive the remake now being developed by Pieces Interactive, and it released for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 in 2024.
