The production of new games in the Gal*Gun series has been noted to have become increasingly difficult due to increased content censorship restrictions set by platform holders like Sony, Valve, and Microsoft (said restrictions resulting in the cancellation of the Xbox One version of Gal*Gun Returns), forcing the team to evaluate what to do with the series in order for it to continue. During a 2025 Steam Next Fest stream to promote Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark, localization director Andrew Singleton alluded to internal frustration on the matter, stating: "It's tough these days, it's a sore subject unfortunately." As of 2025, Nintendo is the only viable platform to release games in the series according to Inti Creates CEO Takuya Aizu, due to Steam updating its guidelines to be more strict regarding sexual content, particularly in regards to stories set in schools. Although Aizu admits to wanting to make new games in the series, he also held concerns about not being able to release the games on platforms that previously had games in the series.
