Alongside all of the cinema and television references that fans of the cartoon would expect, Animaniacs for Genesis also contains a small handful of references to other Konami games. Vic Viper from Gradius appears as a platform in the space level, and the Dracula boss uses Dracula's flame attack from the Castlevania games.

Two Solar Gun frames in Boktai: The Sun Is in Your Hand refer to games published by Konami. These are the Gradius (named after the series of side-scrolling shoot-'em-ups) and the Beatmania frames (named after Konami's series of music games). The former offers rapid shots, while the latter fires shots that make loud sounds on impact.

There is a game series by Konami known as 'Parodius' which parodies Gradius, and has since parodied Antarctic Adventure, Castlevania, Xexex, Axelay, Thunder Cross, Taisen Puzzle-Dama, Space Manbow, Goemon, Lethal Enforcers, Tokimeki Memorial and TwinBee.
