A Saints Row film was in development in 2009 with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson becoming director and actor Dwayne Johnson starring in the film, but it was cancelled due to video game company THQ going bankrupt.

The Saints gang color was originally going to be green, but it was changed to purple after San Andreas had been revealed as to avoid people drawing comparisons.

There was originally going to be another game in the Saints Row series known as Saints Row: Money Shot. It was going to be connected with (the then upcoming) Saints Row 3 and unlock things for it. It was cancelled however, and the content was released as DLC instead. A beta was found online a few years later, though it requires a JTAG hacked Xbox 360 to play.
