Nov 28, 2023, 5:09 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Pokémon Puzzle League | Cancelled despite completed, a similar situation to Star Fox 2 and that GBA Shantae game. |
Nov 28, 2023, 2:41 AM | Kirby Inhales Jotaro | Game: Cuphead | I’m kind of curious what the previous record holder was, I’m assuming it’s Alien Soldier but when I look it up it says it has 26 |
Nov 27, 2023, 1:42 PM | Rocko & Heffer | Game: Pokémon Puzzle League | The N64 release of Panel de Pon was cancelled, but also finished, and then released on GameCube - so it can be both an N64 game and a 2003 release. I don't know if the Puzzle Collection used emulation or source code, but if the prior that technically means it was released as an N64 title too. |
Nov 27, 2023, 1:38 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Pokémon Puzzle League | The submission you posted also went over to here, a game released in 2003 that mentions the Nintendo 64 as a system that it's for despite being discontinued by then: https://www.vgfacts.com/game/paneldepon1/ |
Nov 27, 2023, 1:34 PM | Rocko & Heffer | Game: Pokémon Puzzle League | Puzzle Collection was on GameCube |
Nov 27, 2023, 1:20 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Pokémon Puzzle League | Released in 2003, but hadn't the Nintendo 64 already offered it's last by then? |
Nov 26, 2023, 7:25 PM | Dinoman96 | Game: The Outfoxies | Haha, I remember when Destructoid mentioned the rumor about the Outfoxies dev team being involved with Smash. https://www.destructoid.com/six-days-to-smash-bros-brawl-top-five-smash-bros-alternatives/ It’s rumored that the Outfoxies team went to Nintendo right before the first Smash Bros. game went into production, and that they used Outfoxies as a template for creating their particular brand of 2D fighting. |
Nov 25, 2023, 8:47 PM | Tuli0hWut | Game: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time | The fact I was even looking for that last "hidden" door in the temple, thinking I had missed one. NOW THIS explains why I couldn't find it. |
Nov 25, 2023, 5:10 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Super Smash Bros. Melee | A very fine compromise indeed. Thanks for adding the additional information to the submission I posted in 2014, of which I didn't think to include in the submission myself at the time. |
Nov 24, 2023, 2:27 PM | DidYouKnowGaming | Game: Super Smash Bros. Melee | I've updated CuriousUserX90's original post with some of the information from the first half of the original submission by Dinoman96, and reworded the second half of the original post to stand on its own merits. Hopefully this compromise will satisfy everyone. |
Nov 24, 2023, 1:32 PM * | Dinoman96 | Game: Super Smash Bros. Melee | I see that now, but I also wanted to point out that in the JP version of Melee, the original JP SF64 VA cast reprised their respective roles. Maybe a staff could combine this and that old one? |
Nov 24, 2023, 1:13 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Super Smash Bros. Melee | I already posted a submission about this in 2014: https://www.vgfacts.com/game/supersmashbrosmelee/trivia-6674 |
Nov 24, 2023, 10:54 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Star Fox 64 | So whilst Slippy was given the ideal voice in the Western Versions of Star Fox Assault done by a male voice actor, he was still had a female voice actor in the Japanese Version. |
Nov 23, 2023, 2:53 AM | Kirby Inhales Jotaro | Game: Psycho Soldier | Thanks for the credit and posting this to here, I never would have thought to post this haha |
Nov 22, 2023, 9:01 PM * | Rocko & Heffer | Franchise: Kirby | Honestly, having read a lot of Sakurai interviews, I can 100% imagine where Claude could be coming from. He does come off as a bit pretentious and stuck-up, and you can see a bit of that self-aggrandizing in Smash's visual and audio presentation. Might be a biased reading though, since I really dislike the direction Smash took after Melee. |
Nov 22, 2023, 2:17 PM | Dinoman96 | Game: Star Fox 64 | TBH, more than anything, I just wanted to point out the fact that Peppy doesn't actually say "barrel roll" or really anything when doing a barrell roll in the Japanese version of Zero, and that "do a barrel roll!" isn't really considered a meme in Japan. |
Nov 22, 2023, 1:48 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Rayman 2: The Great Escape | Thanks for allowing this submission to be displayed on every version of Rayman 2 that there's been over the years, all of which had their own VGFacts and IGDB page due to the amount of differences, but isn't the PS1 version also unique? |
Nov 22, 2023, 4:52 AM | MehDeletingLater | Game: Star Fox 64 | Yes, I didn't notice this at first so I decided to merge your submission into this new one to compensate, the link you originally submitted is now in the self-source tab. |
Nov 22, 2023, 4:23 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Star Fox 64 | Didn't I post a submission about this in 2016? Mentioning the easter egg in Star Fox Zero that mentions being able to play as Peppy who continually says "barrel roll". |
Nov 22, 2023, 4:20 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Metroid Prime | In another reply I was suggested to inquire directly with the reason behind the remasters that can be submitted as their own page. But I guess it's all dependent on the game type category that I was also shown: https://github.com/twitchtv/igdb-contribution-guidelines/wiki/Game-Types |
Nov 21, 2023, 1:40 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Metroid Prime | In a reply to what I asked those that run IGDB, they stated that games like Metroid Prime Remastered do not get ingested by VGFacts due to being remasters, despite there being remasters which are able to have their own VGFacts page, of which you can find when you type in things like HD and Edition and Deluxe into the search engine. |
Nov 21, 2023, 2:54 AM | Rocko & Heffer | Game: Psycho Soldier | Credit to Kirby Inhales Jotaro for discovering this tidbit on another site we both frequent. |
Nov 20, 2023, 3:35 PM | MehDeletingLater | Game: Star Fox 64 | Yes adding games to submissions is not possible in Revisions, but you can still report the trivia and leave a message suggesting games it should be assigned to, some users have been doing that already. |
Nov 20, 2023, 2:30 PM | Dinoman96 | Game: Star Fox 64 | Can someone also link this to Star Fox 64 (and Star Fox 64 3D)? It is technically relevant to the backstory of that game and was also conducted in an interview with the dev team behind SF643D. I tried doing it myself within in the Report/Revision feature but it doesn't seem to be an option. |
Nov 19, 2023, 9:46 PM * | MehDeletingLater | Game: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate | The reason I typed that note out was because I submitted the edit to save for when I could work on it later, and while I was out I did a quick check on my phone to see if there were any more submissions and it reverted to the original. I think you started editing before I originally added the label and when you finished your edit that reset everything, so no worries. Also I don't label sources as supplementary very often, it's a case-by-case thing depending on the content of the submission and sources used. Normally I reserve it for sources that would normally go against the rules if it was being treated as the main primary/secondary source for the trivia, but if it's already been proven by a much better source I don't see the harm in keeping it in if it helps reiterate certain things. |
Nov 19, 2023, 4:49 PM | Rocko & Heffer | Game: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate | I have read the mod note - I typically leave labels out due to me viewing sources as "main sources" (in this situation, the Reddit thread) and "supplementary sources" (in this situation, the Haru twitter post), but clearly that isn't the way to go about it. From now on I will try to label all of my self-sources. I do not have any memory of ever removing a label added by mods, but if I have, I apologize. |
Nov 19, 2023, 10:35 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge | The game didn't get to release on the Nintendo 64, yet the Nintendo 64 is listed as one of the systems that the game is for. |
Nov 19, 2023, 8:00 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Metroid Prime | I can see why the report to have this submission also be displayed on a page for Metroid Prime Remastered was turned down, since it currently doesn't come up in where you add in the name of a game for submitting as trivia, despite having an IGDB page. |
Nov 19, 2023, 5:54 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Sonic 3D Blast | I notice there's now a 2nd Sonic 3D Blast page, which is not because of how different the Genesis and Saturn versions are, but much rather due to there being something with the PC Version that I'm currently not sure of. |
Nov 18, 2023, 12:04 PM | Rocko & Heffer | Platform: Nintendo Entertainment System | Weren't the first-party NES ports of games like Defender born from this scrapped deal or something like that? |
Nov 18, 2023, 2:48 AM * | MehDeletingLater | Game: WarioWare: Move It! | This info has been added to the original submission, thank you. |
Nov 17, 2023, 1:20 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Super Mario 3D All-Stars | If you compare that to other games released for anniversaries, they weren't playable for only a limited amount of time, although Kirby's Dream Collection was released towards the end of the Wii's life span. |
Nov 17, 2023, 1:14 PM * | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Super Mario 3D All-Stars | Can't believe there's still no permanent edition of the game, and that Super Mario Galaxy 2 hasn't been updated into the collection, so I never did get to play it myself due me getting hold of a Switch for the first time after it's limited release ended. |
Nov 17, 2023, 12:16 PM | Dinoman96 | Game: WarioWare: Move It! | One thing that's interesting about the Cractus that appears in WarioWare is that, in the Japanese version, it has a slightly different name from the Cractus that appeared in Wario Land. The latter was called フラワナ, or Furawana, a pun on "flower" and「罠」(wana, trap). The former that appears in WW however is called フラワニ, or Furawani, a pun on "flower" and「鰐」(wani, crocodile). Either they renamed it, or the one in WarioWare is meant to represent a different individual from the same species. A neat reference and callback to Wario Land 4 either way. |
Nov 17, 2023, 5:35 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Super Smash Bros. Brawl | I can already see Krystal once her time comes to become a Smash Bros. Fighter having 2 different outfits to choose from, and making use of her staff, something only ever seen in her game of origin that not once has had music from it featured in a Smash Bros. game. |
Nov 16, 2023, 2:18 PM | Dinoman96 | Game: Super Smash Bros. Brawl | Eh, that's not entirely true. Krystal and Tricky have made appearances in Brawl, Smash 4 and Ultimate and are even primarily represented by their Adventures designs in the latter (as opposed to Assault in Brawl and Smash 4), Krystal's even a full blown assist trophy with her staff. In regards to Command, it did influence the designs of Fox, Falco and Wolf in Brawl and Smash 4 (for the former two who were still playable) and they used a bunch of stickers from it. Smash 4 also remixed the Missle Interception theme from it. It is true that a good bulk of Star Fox's representation in Smash does tend to come from SF64 and Assault, however. |
Nov 16, 2023, 12:52 PM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Super Smash Bros. Brawl | Come to think of it, the Smash Bros. series has never really used any aspects from Star Fox Adventures for some reason, same said about Star Fox Command I should add. |
Nov 16, 2023, 2:53 AM | Petie | Game: Star Fox Adventures | We weren't crazy about this placement either but couldn't come up with a better alternative without over-cluttering the bottom of the trivia. Would making it a more obvious button, rather than a link, but still in the same spot help? Or would it be better to somehow incorporate reports and revisions separately? For the record, we did try to have both options available directly but it wasn't a great experience in our testing. |
Nov 15, 2023, 5:22 AM | CuriousUserX90 | Game: Mario Kart 8 | If this is all true, then I guess Mario Kart 8 might've originally been due for an ideal newcomer after all, one that doesn't seem questionable and hasn't been playable in any other kind of Mario spinoff. One thing that's still to be figured out right now is if the additional characters of the Switch port were characters intended for the Wii U game that never made it due to time constraints, of which did not include Kamek up until the MK8BP came around. But the Kamek icon found in the game's data of the Wii U game could explain why he was chosen to be in the MK8BP (it was even seemingly teased through an advertisement in Coconut Mall). |
Nov 14, 2023, 6:05 PM | Rocko & Heffer | Game: Star Fox Adventures | If you press the report button, there's a link below that lets you submit a revision to trivia. A bit clunky, I know. |
