Big Bumpin'
1
Big Bumpin' was originally an adaptation of the Sumo minigame from Fuzion Frenzy, where characters would push one another around inside caged metal zorb balls. However, Burger King wanted all of the mascot characters to be visible in gameplay, leading to the game being reworked into a dodgems game as you could see the characters' heads.
Fate/Grand Order

2
Attachment The "Fate/Unpublished Material" and "Fate/Side Material" booklets reveal an unused character for Fate/Stay Night. "Tachie", otherwise known as "Galahad", "Shielder", or "Stray Servant" was planned as an alternate Heroine Servant the player could have chosen instead of Saber. She was scrapped from the game as to keep the story manageable.

This character was also planned for the animated adaptation of Fate/Stay Night by Studio Deen, but was scrapped in favor of an adaptation of the "Fate" Route. An animated movie featuring Tachie was also considered, but also abandoned.

This unused character was later revisited and inspired the design for Mash Kyrielight, a seperate Shielder Servant and primary heroine of Fate/Grand Order.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
subdirectory_arrow_right Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 (Game)
1
Attachment In the reveal trailer for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, a set of gameplay footage from the first installment is shown. This is notable for two reasons, one being that the footage shows off multiple characters not featured in the second game, and that one scene shows a beta version of the Wild Waterfall stage with a smaller waterfall and different colors for the Thornberrys' ComVee. This would lead to a theory that the Wild Waterfall footage was taken from NASB 2 and accidentally inserted into the NASB 1 section of the trailer, which if true would confirm that Lincoln Loud and Leonardo were returning.

This theory was quite easily debunked by Lincoln and Leonardo using their models from the first game while everyone else got revised models, and a KO explosion effect featured in the snippet being different from one shown later in the trailer. Nigel Thornberry's character showcase would later show off a new Wild Thornberrys stage in place of Wild Waterfall, which was shortly followed by a leak showing Lincoln as an NPC cameo on the Loud Castle stage.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
1
In an interview with competitive Super Smash Bros. player Hungrybox, the developers of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl claimed that the game would feature cross-play in a future update. Cross-play was eventually finished for the game, but was not able to be released due to Nintendo's strict guidelines on cross-play. On March 3, 2023, the game was released on the Epic Games Store, and cross-play between PC and Switch was accidentally added without announcement, but was removed shortly after, though cross-play between Epic Games and Steam players would continue to exist in the game. Cross-play would eventually be included in the base game of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 for all consoles and generations.
Jingle Brawl
3
In Super Fall Brawl, one of the many reskins of Jingle Brawl, the new character was intended to be Sheen Estevez from The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, in promotion for his then-new spin-off series Planet Sheen. However, Sheen was not coded correctly, making him near-impossible to beat in a fight. The game's second update would remove Sheen and his stage completely, and he would never be added back in, making Fall Brawl the only Super Brawl game without any new combatants. Sheen would return in Super Brawl 2, though the House of Pain stage, based on the first episode of Planet Sheen, would be swapped for a Zeenu stage generally based on Planet Sheen instead of a single episode.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
1
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl contains multiple unused announcer lines including:

• Several character names (including characters from Rocko's Modern Life and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, which were not represented in the base game)
• Item announcement calls which did not end up being used (despite the narrator having used voice clips relating to the items)
• All of the stage names (notably including alternate names for the Slime Time stage in the form of "Double Dare", "Double Dare Stage", and "Double Dare Extreme")
• Perhaps most interestingly, lines relating to a shop feature where the player could buy outfits, characters, moves, and stages. The reveal press release for All-Star Brawl references the ability to "unlock advanced moves", which may be referring to this scrapped feature.

McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure
1
Attachment In prototype versions of McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure, the shops were McDonald's restaurants, and all the meters and power-ups in the game were McDonald's products. McDonald's burgers as health items in a game could be seen as endorsing them as a healthy food, so it was likely changed for the final game to avoid this perception, and while at the time Ronald McDonald was still seen holding or eating McDonald's in advertising, in later years he would be mandated against doing either. Additionally, a developer from the game has claimed that McDonald's were opposed to the collectibles because they didn't want hamburgers being left on the ground.

Angry Birds McDonald's has a non-functional language select button out-of-bounds on the sidebar, implying that an English version may have been planned.
Annoying Orange: Kitchen Carnage
1
Attachment Annoying Orange: Kitchen Carnage contains files related to toasters and burners, implying that they may have been extra appliances to kill fruit with in the game alongside blenders, cutting boards, and fans.
Courage the Cowardly Dog: Creep TV
1
Courage the Cowardly Dog: Creep TV has secret codes and maps that went undiscovered until 20 years after its release due to a glitch making them inaccessible. The codes include the "daScore" code, which shows a counter of how many ghosts you've zapped, and the "mirage" code, which expands the game map infinitely and allows access to the secret maps. On one of these maps, you can acquire a pair of glasses as an unused item, and another map containing an oasis in the Middle of Nowhere that also has a sign simply reading Eustace's catchphrase, "STUPID DOG!". However, if you use the glasses to read the sign, it will instead say "Wee...amazing! You found it! GOOD DOG!"
amiibo Tap: Nintendo's Greatest Bits
1
amiibo Tap: Nintendo's Greatest Bits contains two unused ROMs in its code: Mario Bros. for NES and Super Mario All-Stars for SNES. Notably, Super Mario All-Stars never had a Wii U Virtual Console release. (though it was playable on the console through the Wii disc, Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition)
Disney's DuckTales
1
The reason Scrooge McDuck wears his red cloak from the Carl Barks comics (which would later be used in the 2017 DuckTales reboot) instead of the blue cloak from the original DuckTales TV series is because the blue cloak didn't stand out enough alongside blue and black level backgrounds.

Attachment In the Piko Interactive Collection 2 for the Evercade, Barkley: Shut Up & Jam and its sequel are included under the revised name of Hoops: Shut Up & Jam, with all likenesses of Charles Barkley swapped for a single Adobe stock photo of an angry black man, named "Joe Hoops" by the game text.

Pokémon Emerald Version
3
Because the developers were still experimenting with Double Battles where the player teams up with an NPC ally to fight two NPC opponents, this led to a glaring oversight during the battle where the player joins with Steven Stone to battle Maxi and Tabitha where, during the battle, Steven's Level 42 Metang can actually gain a substantial amount of EXP simultaneously with the player's own Pokémon. This essentially means that, with careful manipulation, the player can have the ally Metang get enough EXP to grow to Level 43. This so far is the only instance in the entire Pokémon main series where, in a non-scripted battle, an NPC's Pokémon can gain EXP and level up.
Sonic Robo Blast 2
2
Attachment In Greenflower Zone Act 1, there is a house in the upper section of the level next to a lake. If the player has all 200 Emblems, this house will have a note on it thanking the player for keeping the game alive.

This house belongs to the in-universe persona of RedXVI, an old member of the Sonic fangame community who had significant influence over Sonic Robo Blast 2's development.

The location of this note is a reference to Version 1.09 of the game, where an Easter egg was hidden on the very same house. In this version, jumping on the house would cause RedXVI to come out and send the player to an early work-in-progress version of Red Volcano Zone Act 1 if the player jumped on the house repeatedly after beating the game three times.

Attachment Inside the files of Pepsiman is a buggy, yet functional, level editor.
Annalynn
2
Early development plans involved Annalynn being released as part of a 4-in-1 collection of arcade-style titles. The other games were dropped to focus on Annalynn.

Attachment At Spaceworld 2000 during the unveiling of the GameCube, there were five models that came from backstage each one holding a uniquely colored GameCube, the hot pink color never seeing an official release. Each GameCube featured a small window cut into the jewel (black circular disk atop the GameCube) allowing for the player to see the disk and disk tray. These prototypes do not actually function as they were made just to be shown at Spaceworld 2000.

Super Smash Flash 2
1
Attachment The Battle Cards from Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories were intended to appear in Super Smash Flash 2. They would have summoned characters from Disney movies, with Genie; Stitch; and Jack Skellington being named as planned summons. The item was scrapped due to conceptually overlapping with Assist Trophies and Poké Balls.
