In the beginning of the game, you override Kazuma Kaneko's ID, the Japanese illustrator and employee of Atlus, to get into the Paradigm X beta.

Dr. Victor and his assistant Mary, located in the Hotel Goumaden, are based on the 1818 novel by Mary Shelley, "Frankenstein", in which the protagonist is named Victor Frankenstein.

In the Playstation and Saturn version of the game, the protagonist is not depicted in game. However, in the 3DS remake, his face is shown in the battle menu and on the cover.
