The game was originally conceived as an MMORPG, when it was under the development of ##38 Studios##, codenamed Copernicus. The studio decided to retool an existing single-player RPG to be set within the same universe in order to introduce the Amalur MMORPG. The idea was later scrapped after ##38 Studios## and ##Big huge games## were shut down.

After all of the game's main story quests have been completed, Spoiler:two chickens, called "Chicken Overload"s, can be found in the Primordia dungeon in Alabastra's High Fulgen. They are behind a hidden door which required Detect Hidden to be at level 5 or greater.
