Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny

Many of the characters in Onimusha are based off real people. Most obviously Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Akechi Samanosuke (Hidemitsu) either return or are referenced from their actions in Onimusha: Warlords.
The main character, Yagyu Jubei, is based on the swordsman and small-time warlord Yagyu Muneyoshi, founder of the Yagyu Shinkage-ryu style of swordsmanship.

A prototype version of Hugo can be found in the game data for Street Fighter III: New Generation, with only his basic moves finished and placeholder graphics. Performing certain attacks on him may cause him to become invisible or freeze the game.

The N'doul bonus stage has a dead Speedwagon Foundation helicopter pilot in the background. The character was removed from the US version of the game because not long after the start the stage, one of N'Doul's Geb water hands attacks the pilot's beeping wristwatch and cuts his hand off.

Attachment Creator Hirohiko Araki is known for having a strong preference for western music, because of this most characters reference a popular band or song in some way. This meant it was necessary to rename some characters to be acceptable for release outside Japan. Examples of name changes include Devo to D'bo and Vanilla ice to Iced, although some references are still included, such as Iced quoting Ice Ice Baby with "You had a problem.... I just solved it." in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future.

Attachment Producer Noritaka Funamizu confirmed in a 1998 Famitsu interview that Guile's overall appearance was modeled after Jean Pierre Polnareff, a character from the manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Guile's page in Street Fighter X Tekken Artworks goes into detail, explaining that they started with Polnareff as an inspiration, then stretched his hair out to give him "the always distinctive Stroheim look" instead. Noritaka also explained that Guile's name was derived from Polnareff's archenemy, J.Geil, though this was a mix up from the development staff at the time.

Additionally, during the early development stages of Street Fighter II, Guile's Sonic Boom attack was originally known as "Divine Sandstorm", in reference to the character Wamuu.

Attachment Juri Han from Street Fighter IV was inspired by Jolyne Kujo/Cujoh from the manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, aspects of Juri's design, such as her hair and chestwear, are resmincent of Jolyne. Along with this, Juri has a spider motif and cleaves a butterfly in her official artwork, while Jolyne has a butterfly motif and spiderweb-patterned clothes, her Stand also turns her body into threads and webs. Both characters also use the same "ora ora ora" battle cry.

Attachment Rose from the Alpha series was inspired by Lisa Lisa, a character from the manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Rose's outfit is almost identical to Lisa Lisa's and both share a similar fighting style that consists of channeling energy into a scarf. Both characters are also known for enjoying baths. In addition, Rose's stage in Street Fighter Alpha 2 is Venice, which is the same city where Joseph Joestar meets Lisa Lisa in the story, and Rose's Soul Drain move is inspired by a scene in the manga where Lisa Lisa puts a breathing mask on Joseph Joestar.
Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Curse

Attachment A Banjo-Kazooie game was in development for the Game Boy Color, under the name 'Banjo-Kazooie: Grunt's Curse'. It would have featured Gruntilda putting a curse on Kazooie, and carrying her in a backpack, similar to Banjo.
It's unknown why the game was canceled, but some of the ideas would later be reworked into Gruntilda's Revenge for the Game Boy Advance.

During development Fortress Fury was known as Fortress Fallout. The title had to be changed because the developers received a letter from ZeniMax, the company that owns Bethesda. The letter stated that the title infringed on the trademark of the Fallout series.
