Metal Gear Solid

During the fight with Psycho Mantis, the player is intended to swap their controller to the second port to prevent Psycho Mantis from reading their mind. However, if you call Campbell after losing to Psycho Mantis enough times, Campbell and Naomi will reveal that the statues in the room are based on Mantis himself, and attacking the statues will distract him long enough to be attacked. This alternate strategy was implemented in case the second controller port of the PlayStation is damaged, although this strategy was not included in Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on the GameCube.

According to a 1998 interview with Sega R&D head Hideki Sato published in The History of SEGA Console Hardware, the Mega Drive's design from Japan was based on the audio player's appearance, and presented the "16-bit" label embossed with a golden metallic veneer to give it an impact of power:

"We had a feeling that before long, consumers would be appreciating video games with the same sense with which they enjoyed music; moreover, since the Megadrive was a machine that you put in front of your TV, our concept was to make it look like an audio player. So we painted the body black and put the “16BIT” lettering in a gold print. That gold printing, by the way, was very expensive. (laughs) But we really wanted to play up the fact that this was the very first 16-bit home console."
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom
1
In a 2016 interview with the director of the first game in the series Masahide Miyata, he was asked how development on Lufia & the Fortress of Doom began. He responded:

"Four or five of us got together and started talking about making our own RPG. We developed a prototype version of “Esuto” for the PC-98, and shopped it around to different companies for distribution. This was before the era of things like powerpoint presentations, so we lugged a PC-98 and CRT monitor around with us to give our pitch. Taito was one of those companies we presented to. Then once the development was officially underway, the idea came up that, since we were gonna do this after all, we might as well make it for the Super Famicom."

subdirectory_arrow_right Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition (Game)
1
Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition, an expanded 2017 re-release of the game for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch and PC, uses the full uncompressed video footage recorded for the original game. Additional bonus content includes deleted scenes like an introduction scene for the game's story and a death scene featuring Danny (which was most likely cut due to Danny's young age), as well as a behind-the-scenes developer commentary, a "theater mode" to watch all of the game's story, a "survivor mode" that will randomly place Augers in the house, and a playable version of "Scene of the Crime", the first prototype of Night Trap created in 1986 to pitch an unreleased console called the Control-Vision to Hasbro.
Ghosts 'n Goblins

The Famicom version of the game released in 1986 was the first Famicom game to utilize a 128 kilobyte cartridge.
Advent Rising

There are Warp Pipes that can be found within the game's first and fourth chapters that strikingly resemble the Warp Pipes from the Mario series. Upon entering either Pipe, there will be a secret room with three more Warp Pipes along with 8-bit music playing in the background, which resembles the Warp Zone from World 1-2 in Super Mario Bros. Upon entering any of the three Pipes, they will warp the player to certain chapters within the game. Furthermore, finding all six buttons within the first chapter without the use of cheat codes will reveal a rainbow bridge that resembles the Rainbow Road track from the Mario Kart series that leads to a blue Warp Pipe, which takes the player to the secret room.

The second Warp Pipe is inaccessible in the PC version due to the switch used to access it not working; whether or not this inaccessibility was an intentional choice by the developers or a glitch is unknown.
The King of Fighters '95

The PlayStation port of the game has extra features that were not in the original Japanese version, such a level select and an improved English translation, which was one of the biggest issues from the Neo Geo version. The port also fixed areas of slowdown, the lower-quality graphics from previous versions, and missing frames of animation.
Metal Gear Solid

In the English localization of the game, when Ocelot and Liquid Snake discuss their demands to the president, Ocelot states their demands as including "1 billion dollars" for both the original PlayStation/PC release and the GameCube remake. In the original Japanese release of the PlayStation/PC version, he states it as "50 million dollars". However, for the Japanese release of the GameCube remake, there is no dub of the game's voice lines in Japanese, while the subtitles translated to Japanese still say "1 billion dollars". Whether or not "1 billion dollars" or "50 million dollars" is a mistake in the game's script or was changed for future releases of the game is unknown.
The Amazing Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin
1
Attachment In the Sega CD version, in a cutscene after defeating Kingpin, a carved face of Sonic the Hedgehog can be seen in the background on the cave walls, likely as a reference to the game being published by Sega and available exclusively on Sega consoles.
Just Dance 2020
2
The announcement of a Wii version of Just Dance 2020 was met with confusion from some fans as to why an eighth generation game would be released on a discontinued console, speculating that it was because hospitals and rehabilitation centers still used the Wii for physical therapy and recreation, with Just Dance being a popular series for those purposes. However, Ubisoft released an official statement in response to the speculation that claimed that "it would be inaccurate to say that Just Dance is available on the Wii solely because it’s developed for physical therapy purposes" and that "a lot of our players are children and families who continue to play on Wii."
NBA Street V3
1
The GameCube version contains Mario, Luigi, and Peach from the Mario series as playable characters under the team name "Nintendo All-Stars", and a new stage called the Nintendo Court. This appearance was part of a deal between Nintendo and EA that allowed them to use Nintendo's characters in three of EA's games for the GameCube, the other two being SSX on Tour and Fight Night Round 2.
Fight Night Round 2
1
The GameCube release contains the SNES game Super Punch-Out!! as a bonus game. Completing the game will unlock Little Mac from Super Punch-Out!! (distinguished by his intro from the ring announcer as being from Tokyo, Japan, whereas the Little Mac in all other entries in the Punch-Out!! series is from the Bronx, New York) as a playable character. Little Mac can also be unlocked by naming a custom boxer "Macman" and saving the end result. This cameo was part of a deal between Nintendo and EA that allowed them to use Nintendo's characters for three of EA's games for the GameCube, the other two being SSX on Tour and NBA Street V3.
Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap
1
When ported to the PC Engine, the game's name was changed. The Japanese release was known as Adventure Island, not to be confused with the Hudson Soft series of the same name, and the North American release was known as Dragon's Curse. A Game Gear version was also released in Europe under the game's original title, and in Japan under the name Monster World II: Dragon no Wana.
Def Jam: Fight for NY

In story mode, Sticky Fingaz and Method Man can be seen playing the game itself based on the console version the physical copy is being played on:
•The PlayStation 2 version will show them both playing the game with DualShock V2 controllers
•The Xbox version will show them both playing the game with Xbox S controllers.
•The GameCube version will show them both playing the game with Nintendo GameCube controllers.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS

This is the only entry in the Super Smash Bros. series that lacks an opening cutscene once it is booted, which was likely done to save space on the game cartridge.
Franchise: Bayonetta

Exclusive only to the Wii U and Nintendo Switch ports of the first two games in the series, several costumes were added that are based on Nintendo characters with additional features tied to them:

•Both the Mushroom Kingdom Princess and Sarasaland Princess costumes resemble the princesses Peach and Daisy from the Mario series, with Mario and Luigi charms attached to their dresses respectively. Coins will drop instead of Halos once enemies are defeated and collecting them will play the coin sound effect from the series. Attacks that summon Madama Butterfly are now replaced with Bowser's hands and feet.

•The Hero of Hyrule costume resembles Link from The Legend of Zelda series. Equipping the Shuraba with this costume will turn the current weapon into the Master Sword. Wearing the costume replaces the Halos with Rupees as well as the standard sound effects with those from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, specifically because it is series director Hideki Kamiya's favorite Zelda game. If Jeanne wears the costume, sound effects from the The Legend of Zelda can be heard instead.

•The Galactic Bounty Hunter costume resembles Samus Aran from the Metroid series. Samus's blaster cannon can be used without needing to equip a weapon skill. Furthermore, Samus' visor works differently between the two games.

•The Star Mercenary costume exclusive to Bayonetta 2 resembles Fox McCloud from the Star Fox series. Equipping the Love is Blue/All 4 One with this costume will turn the current weapon into Arwing Guns, each having charms that resemble Fox, Falco, Peppy, and Slippy. If Bayonetta dons the costume, sound effects will be replaced with those from Star Fox 64. However, if Jeanne dons the costume, sound effects from Star Fox will be heard instead.

•The Chain Chomp foot weapon, also exclusive to Bayonetta 2, can be obtained by completing all chapters on Hard difficulty. The Super Mario 64 Golden LP can be given to Rodin and he will give Bayonetta the Chain Chomp, which plays sound effects from that game. Upon performing the Umbran Dance with either Bayonetta or Jeanne will give them Mario and Luigi's caps with both letters replaced with the letter B and J, while also having fake mustaches.

Attachment According to Platinum Games artist Yong-Hee Cho, Bayonetta's director Hideki Kamiya requested concept art of Bayonetta in Princess Peach's costume for the Wii U version. In addition, Kamiya also requested Cho to design a Mario Charm for Peach's costume and a Luigi Charm for Daisy's costume, and pulled Bayonetta's long black locks in favor of flowing fabric.

Cho also goes on to talk about the concept for the Link and Samus Aran costumes, with the second costume being based on the NES original. According to Cho, it was actually Nintendo who pushed for Bayonetta to show a bit more skin while dressed in her Link costume.

Additionally, Bayonetta in her Samus Aran costume was at one point given the ability to form into a Morph Ball like how Samus does in the Metroid series, but the idea was scrapped and instead was later implemented in the game's sequel, Bayonetta 2.
Ōkami

Attachment An unused enemy named "Gotouryu", a Flying Demon based on the Japanese yōkai of the same name, can be found in the data for the Wii version. When asked about why the enemy was cut, director Hideki Kamiya admitted that he forgot to add the enemy in the game.
