The choice to portray real-life political figures, specifically the union leader Arthur Scargill and prime minister Margaret Thatcher, as villains in Wanted! Monty Mole was a PR stunt and successful attempt to rile the news media, and not an attempt to push any one political ideology. When called out for the stunt, Gremlin Graphics offered to donate 5 pence to the Miner's Welfare Fund per £6.95 copy sold, a donation that was rejected.

Attachment When Elite Software obtained the license to make a video game based on the ThunderCats cartoon, they were unsure if they would be able to complete the game in time for Christmas, and as such outsourced a second ThunderCats game to Paradise Software. Neither game could be finished before the deadline, and as such Elite instead attained the rights to a near-finished game titled Samurai Dawn by FTL Games and released it as ThunderCats: The Lost Eye of Thundera.

Elite's in-house ThunderCats game got pitched to Capcom as a sequel to Ghosts 'n Goblins, but was not picked up due to Ghouls 'n Ghosts being in development at the time. It would be released as an original IP, simply titled Beyond the Ice Palace, featuring a character who in certain versions of the game resembles Lion-O.

Paradise Software's ThunderCats game remains shrouded in mystery, but it seems incredibly likely that the game was released as Bomb Jack II, owing to the C64 version of the game including a rendition of the ThunderCats theme song (stolen music being somewhat of a tradition for the Bomb Jack franchise), not featuring any bombs, and having a protagonist that more closely resembles Lion-O than Bomb Jack.

Attachment As a reward for contributing a $100+ donation to the game's Kickstarter campaign, backers could choose to join a clan of their choice to appear under in the game's credits. Six "Sword or Whip" Clans (connected to a vote on if Miriam's personal weapon should be a sword or a whip) were dedicated to voting on which Sword or Whip weapon would become the most powerful weapon in the game (the winner being Clan Katana with the Grand Izayoi sword), while the remaining eighteen clans were Community or YouTube Partner Clans, who would receive a code for a clan-specific item.

The Community Clans were represented by two Castlevania fan communities: the Dungeon clan (The Castlevania Dungeon forums), and the Operation Akumajo clan (a Castlevania Facebook group spun off from The Castlevania Dungeon dedicated to promoting the series following its 25th anniversary in 2011). The YouTubers and other companies who participated in the last clan group were associated with Fangamer, a video game merchandising company who managed the Kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. To unlock one of the Community/YouTube Partner Clan items, you must enter its respective code as the name for your save file, and as such only one clan item can be unlocked per save file. The participating clans and their codes include:

•StephenPlays: STEPHENPLAYS - unlocks the Sicilian Slicer (a pizza-themed sword, Pizza both being the name of his dog and a recurring subject of vlogs)
•SwimmingBird941: swimmingbird - unlocks the Plague Doctor Face (possibly a reference to the anime "Cowboy Bebop", as series protagonist Spike Spiegel is referred to as "Swimming Bird" by a Native American medicine man named Laughing Bull)
•Far From Subtle: AWESOMEVIDEOGAMES - unlocks the Big Mustache (an in-joke from their series VideoGames AWESOME!)
•The Speed Gamers: TheSpeedGamers - unlocks the Final Hour sword (a speedrunning-themed sword)
•Egoraptor: Egoraptor - unlocks Hey I'm Grump (a helmet of Arin Hanson's stylized head from Game Grumps' intro)
•Game Grumps: Grumps - unlocks I'm Not So Grump (a helmet of Dan Avidan's stylized head from Game Grumps' intro)
•Mega64: Jarvis Meower - unlocks the Mega64 Helmet (a collage of various recurring in-jokes throughout Mega64's run)
•Kinda Funny Games: TEAMFAT - unlocks A Kinda Funny Mask (the company's logo, the code being a reference to the #TeamFat in-joke from one of their series)
•The Zaibatsu Clan (Super Best Friends Play): BULLFIGHTER - unlocks The-Baz Mask (a mask based on an original character created by Super Best Friends Play who has made cameo appearances in various indie games)
•AlphaOmegaSin: ALPHAOMEGASIN - unlocks the Darkness Descends sword (possibly a reference to the studio album of the same name by American thrash metal band Dark Angel, which AlphaOmegaSin has described as "one of my go-to albums")
•Game Sack: 8MEGAPOWER - unlocks the Game Sack Strip sword (a reference to an in-joke regarding various novelty power strips)
•Vinesauce: SPONGYVINE - unlocks the Vine Sword (a sword themed around Vinesauce game glitch/corruption content with a green mushroom [Vinesauce's logo, the "Vineshroom"] as the sword's helm). The name of the code is derived from Sponge, a recurring in-joke character from their streams who is depicted as the depressed third Mario brother.

Attachment One of the Anglar Army's commanders in Star Fox Command is a hammerhead shark looking character named "Zako", who's also a subordinate of Octoman.

His Japanese name, however, is シャーマン (Shāman), which can either translate to just "Shaman" or even "Sherman". Looking at the English text provided in the official Japanese Star Fox Command guidebook, it seems the intended name is "Sharman". It's fairly obvious that his name is combination of "Shark" and "Man", and that it's also meant to complement and mirror Octoman's name.

The Tiger Electronics electronic Pokédex toy received major pushback from Nintendo HQ in Japan, which did not want the toy to have any kind of game function as to avoid cannibalizing sales of Pokémon Red & Blue. When two-frame animations of each Pokémon were implemented, they had to be scrapped as Nintendo thought they were "too close to the Game Boy game", despite animated sprites not being introduced until Pokémon Crystal in 2000. Despite this, both Nintendo of America and 4Kids were in favor of the animations.

Attachment It is often said that Mega Man was once used as Capcom's mascot in the 1980s, in a similar way to how Nintendo and Sega use Mario and Sonic respectively. Like many other statements of platforming characters being used as corporate mascots, this is untrue, as Mega Man has never been used to promote the wider Capcom brand of software outside of his own games or crossovers in which he appears. However, Capcom did have a mascot in the 1980s: the titular hero of Captain Commando - many earlier NES Capcom games were branded as part of the "Captain Commando Challenge Series", including licensed titles such as DuckTales, with game manuals having signed messages "written" by Captain Commando. Despite this, Captain Commando was never released on the NES.

Capcom's former community manager Seth Killian addressed Capcom's current lack of a mascot and Mega Man's use as an unofficial mascot on the Capcom-Unity forums in 2009:

"...we don't have an "official" mascot. We have a logo, that’s it.

As far as unofficial mascots go, however, yes, MM would definitely be that. I have actually heard someone discuss this, and I think the reasoning was something akin to Mega Man best embodying the spirit of the company.

So apparently in addition to making great games, Capcom is also here to save the planet from overthrow by evil robot masters (and according to recorded history so far, I'd say we're doing pretty well–2009 and still no overthrows)."

Attachment The Official Star Fox Missile File Printout guidebook released alongside the original Star Fox on SNES in Japan mentions two pilots, Desla Koba and Bear Noguccini, who don't appear anywhere in the game proper. They were said to be two of the most capable members in the Cornerian Defense Force, who had previously embarked in cutting-edge Arwing scouting vessels.

Both were said to have mysteriously disappeared. It is said later on in the guidebook that Desla Koba had disappeared in the Asteroid Belt when he came across a mysterious giant space bird, and upon trying to inspect it, he ended up being warped into another dimension, known in-game as "Out of this Dimension". Similarly, Bear was last seen in Sector Y, where he encountered the mysterious space whale before losing all contact, never to be seen again.

Desla Koba would actually be mentioned again in Star Fox 64's official Japanese guidebook, with a similar backstory that he had in the Missile File Printout guidebook. Here, it is said that he led a unit conducting an investigation in Meteo (SF64's equivalent to the Asteroid Belt from SF1), only for communications to suddenly be cut off as he'd apparently entered the stage's warp zone, which simultaneously led to him crashing his aircraft on the nearby planet of Katina. This was said to have occurred more than 10 years prior to the events of Star Fox 64.

Both Desla Koba and Bear Noguccini's surnames seem to come from two of the editors of the Mission File Printout guidebook: Hitoshi Kobayashi and Yukata Noguchi.

Attachment In 2019, AtGames, a company specializing in replica microconsoles containing compilations of retro or retro-styled games, acquired a portion of the rights to Ms. Pac-Man from General Computer Corporation, the company that made the original Ms. Pac-Man game for Midway and Namco - this led to a lawsuit over the IP, with an undisclosed turnout. After this, Ms. Pac-Man would begin to disappear from Pac-Man games, implying that AtGames won the case, with Ms. Pac being replaced by a character named Pac-Mom, who has a visual design resembling Ms. Pac-Man's mother from Pac 'N Roll.

Pac-Mom first appeared in the Arcade Archives release of Pac-Land through graphical modification to the original ROM, and would then be named for the first time in Pac-Man Museum+ alongside modifications to other games that originally featured Ms. Pac-Man such as Pac-in-Time, and would appear again in Pac-Man World: Re-Pac in place of Ms. Pac-Man.

Ms. Pac-Man's final appearance in an original title would be on the Pac-Land stage in 2018's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The music in Frogger is taken from a variety of sources, some public domain (such as the Japanese nursery rhyme "Dog Policeman" and the minstrel song "Camptown Races") while others are stolen copyrighted music from anime (the Japanese theme songs to Rascall the Raccoon and Heidi, Girl of the Alps).

Re-releases of Frogger tend to replace all of the music in the game, including certain public domain songs, with original tracks (though "Camptown Races" tends to remain intact).
