Metroid Prime Hunters
1
Attachment Concept art reveals that space battles against other bounty hunters were once considered by the developers at an early stage of the game's development.
Franchise: Lemmings
1
Attachment The Lemmings series were the inspiration for the Red Clay Army, an army of golems controlled by an icon-driven interface who would climb, dig and march when commanded to, in the 1994 Discworld novel "Interesting Times" by Terry Pratchett.

When asked about the Red Clay Army's connection to the Lemmings series, Pratchett said,

"What? Lemmings? Merely because the red army can fight, dig, march and climb and is controlled by little icons? Can't imagine how anyone thought that...

Not only did I wipe Lemmings from my hard disc, I overwrote it so's I couldn't get it back."
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
1
Attachment The 'Casual' clothes were originally yellow.
Metroid Prime Hunters
1
It appears that the models and textures for each of the characters were originally far more detailed than the downscaled assets in the final game.
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
1
Attachment In early versions of the game, Toni's casual clothes were a purple shirt with a green vest.
Spyro: Year of the Dragon
1
There's an area in 'Dino Mines' that can only be accessed using hacks/glitches, which is an empty arena with a platform in the middle. It was likely going to be used for a boss battle to obtain an egg, much like in Spooky Swamp.
Kingdom Hearts
1
The Pride Lands were originally going to be to be a playable level, with Sora turning into a lion to fight. This idea was scrapped as fighting and walking in a four-legged body required additional programming that the team did not have time to create. The concept was later used in the sequel.
Spyro: Year of the Dragon
1
There is an unused cave near the start of level "Fireworks Factory" that can only be accessed by hacking/glitching the level. The cave contains a life butterfly and acts as though it was supposed to have a wall that could be busted when rammed into, but doesn't.
Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
1
Attachment Door to Phantomile began as a much darker game involving robotic stone-like figures. But, due to most games in the Playstation era already having a dark theme, series creator Hideo Yoshizawa decided to make it into a more lighthearted game while still containing a sort of dark undertone to it. This later became the defining traits of the Klonoa series.
Pikmin
1
Attachment Bulbie, Olimar's dog (Or at least a Hocotatian form of one), was the inspiration for the Bulborbs' names because of their resemblance to Bulbie. The Grub-dog family (Which includes Bulborbs among other creatures) was also named after him, due to Bulbie being a dog.
Injustice: Gods Among Us
1
Attachment Since the early versions of the game, the Metropolis stage has had a number of changes. The original time of day was daytime, but the weather in the final version is overcast. The TV in the streets had the Regime's logo which faded to Superman with glowing eyes and then back again. The final versions have just the logo. In an earlier version, it shows the Daily Planet logo as unfinished on the rooftops, but in the final versions it's shown completed.
Franchise: Pokémon
1
Attachment Two early Pokemon designs are named 'Godzillante' and 'Gorillaimo'.
'Godzillante' is most likely based on reptilian monster Godzilla, and
'Gorillaimo' could be based on Donkey Kong or the Universal monster King Kong. Not much is known about either Pokemon. Their designs could have been developed into other Pokemon, as they vaguely resemble Tyranitar and Slaking.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Monster Capsule: Breed & Battle
1
This was the first game in the Yu-Gi-Oh! series and was based on a game in the original manga series called "Capsule Monster Chess", as opposed to Duel Monsters which the series is known for and continues to be based on to this day.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
1
Attachment DLC maps can be found in the game's code on the disk. These are Berlin Wall, Hotel, Munich (later renamed as Stadium) Discovery and Golf Course (later named as Hazard).
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
1
Attachment Luigi's partner, Screamy, is based on the original design of the Smorgs.
Mario & Wario
1
Attachment Although Mario & Wario was released only in Japan, the game is entirely in English; a US release was planned, complete with box art, yet never materialized.

Of note is that the scrapped English box art features a logo identical to the one seen on the title screen, and that the game itself contains unused graphics for a Japanese version of the title screen with a logo identical to that seen on the Japanese box art. Combining this with the fact that Nintendo games' title logos rarely deviate from the box art (and vice-versa), this implies that the final game is actually based on an English prototype which was shipped to Japanese retailers by mistake.

Dead Island
1
The unlockable skill "Gender Wars" for the character Purna was referred to during development as "Feminist Whore". The original name along with alternate names for some of her other skills, which were "TeamSpirit1Purna", "SharpApprenticePurna" and "FeministWhorePurna", were found in the game's code of the non-retail version which had been accidentally released onto Steam. Techland came out to apologize over the incident and told that the developer responsible for the inappropriate names would "face professional consequences for violating the professional standards and beliefs Techland stands for."
Dead Island
1
Attachment The logo on the game's cover of the North American release was altered to feature the Zombie walking upright instead of hanging from the tree. This was due to the Entertainment Software Ratings Board's (ESRB) strict guidelines about the types of content which is considered appropriate to feature in advertising and marketing materials. The logo did however remain unaltered in-game.
Sonic 3D Blast
1
Attachment There is an unused music track in the sound test found in certain prototype builds of the game. This track would later be recycled as one of the boss themes for Sonic 4, Episode 1.
Resident Evil Code: Veronica
1
The game's developers describe Resident Evil Code: Veronica as the true sequel to Resident Evil 2 even if it did not have a numbered title, and despite it being released after Resident Evil 3.
