Doom Eternal
1
Attachment In the initial release of "The Ancient Gods - Part One" DLC on October 20, 2020, pressing the dedicated Chainsaw button four times while on the Runes tab of the Dossier would bring up an altered logo for the game reading "Doog Eternal". This is a reference to Inugami Korone, a Japanese virtual YouTuber who livestreamed Doom 64 and Doom (2016) in the past. She enjoyed using the Chainsaw weapon and she was nicknamed by her community as "Doog Slayer" (a play on the fact that her model is a humanoid dog).

Three days later, the Easter egg was removed from the game in the Version 3.1 update. The patch notes acknowledged the discovery, but the reason why it was removed remains unknown:

"The DOOG easter egg has been removed, but will live on in infamy… We were wondering how long it would take for someone to notice, and as always, we're impressed with the community's speed!"

Milla from Freedom Planet was added as guest character in the Version 1.1 update.

Attachment In the 40th Anniversary Edition update, in the Diamond DA62, if you flip the ELT located in the bottom-right part of the dashboard to "On", the pilot seat's screen will start its own Microsoft Flight Simulator, allowing you to play the first four main installments in the series.

One of Velma's moves in the game consisted of calling the police to take the opponent away. This was changed on September 8th, 2022 with the release of patch 1.02. With the release of this update Velma will now call the Mystery Inc. gang and the Mystery Machine instead.

To detect if the Steam version of the game is a pirated copy, the game registers a fake DLC ID with SteamAPI. If a Steam emulator unlocks all DLC, the game won't progress past the first chapter and will open browser windows to the Steam page of the game every frame, potentially freezing your computer for having too many tabs on your browser.

pack/database/stat.rbrb also contains this text about a popular Steam emulator. It's referenced in the exe so it's not completely unused, but if it actually triggers anything is unknown.

"steam_api.dll.ali123
ALI123.INI
- STEAM NOT DETECTED! RESTART GAME TO ENABLE STEAM FUNC! -"

As of 2.00 the game also checks the integrity of steam_api.dll and will softlock after defeating a boss in Chapter 2 by disabling your controls.

As recently as the game's third update, the passive item "Money=Power" contained a typo that made it appear as "Monkey=Power". This would be patched out in a future update.

In June of 2022, a cosmetic nameplate to commemorate the holiday Juneteenth was released but received much backlash due to a secondary palette for the nameplate being named, "Bonobo". The bonobo is a type of great ape, and many saw it as a racist connotation in association with the holiday. The nameplate was quickly renamed "Freedom", and an apology was issued, with 343 Industries' senior community manager John Junyszek later stating that the palette name originated from an asset-editing program commonly used at the studio, although it was not used in the development of Halo Infinite.

Attachment In the background of Seam's shop, one can spot a doll designed after Yoki, a character from Deltarune designer Temmie Chang's games Escaped Chasm and Dweller's Empty Path. In Chapter 2, the Yoki doll is redesigned to match changes in Chang's own depiction of the character. The original design was initially still present in Chapter 1, but was later altered in the Version 1.08 update to match Chapter 2.

On May 23, 2022, it was announced that Valentine was receiving another design update that would incorporate pink shurikens that replaces the original cross. Not only will this affect Valentine's original sprite animations for both the console/PC and mobile versions of the game, but also any story mode art as well as other art pieces included in the Digital Art Compendium.

Valentine's design was officially changed on May 13th, 2014 via a patch update. The update changed all parts of her design that involve a red cross against a white background to be altered so the cross is colored pink instead. This was done in order to prevent legal action by the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The unique style of ending for the Spoiler:Yozora secret boss battle at the end of the ReMind DLC, where players obtain a different ending depending on if they win or lose the boss battle, was because Tetsuya Nomura and his team thought the fight was too extremely difficult and so wanted to give something to players that lost even if it did nothing for the series' canon.

In the original release of Chapter 2, Spoiler:the "WRECK", "PAUSE", and "SPEW" VCR icons that appear during Spamton NEO's ultimate attack only showed up during the hidden Weird Route, and thus were absent from his fight during the normal route. While this difference was initially interpreted by fans as an intentional artistic decision, in actuality it was the result of an oversight: Spoiler:the icons were coded to appear at certain coordinates relative to the room where Spamton NEO is encountered. Because the fight on the normal route moved Spamton NEO and the player far out of range, the icons were consequently left offscreen.

This error was eventually fixed in the v1.08 patch, with Spoiler:the icons appearing in the proper location on both routes instead of just one. The patch additionally adds a new smoke effect after Spoiler:Spamton NEO's ultimate attack ends on both routes.

The Xbox 360 version was created exclusively for use with HDTV. Players using the game on a standard TV expressed concern with the dark image of it. As a result, Ubisoft recommended players play the version created for the original Xbox until a patch was released.
Ape Escape

Later revisions of the NTSC version of the game had a specific monkey's name and description changed, possibly out of fear of copyright infringement. An ape named Freeto with the description, "Needs clean underwear" is changed to Quiff, with the description, "Bad fur day."

Version 1.2 of the game added secret alternate phases to three boss fights, two of which being ideas that were originally scrapped before the game's release:
•Botanic Panic!: Spoiler:By not attacking Ollie Bulb the onion, he will retreat back into the ground and skip to Chauncey Chantenay the carrot's phase featuring an additional mini-boss, a spinning radish named Horace Radiche who despite being completed before the game was released, originally went unused.
•Pyramid Peril: Spoiler:If the player shrinks into the mini-plane form just before the fourth phase of the fight, Djimmi the Great will scan the player and pull up a marionette featuring a dinosaur, a miniature version of Dr. Kahl's Robot and a stone statue, before tugging a longer string and pulling up a smaller version of Cuppet. This skips the fourth phase and goes directly into a harder version of the final phase where the smaller Cuppet will act as a turret firing at the player counter-clockwise to the spinning Eye of Providence pyramids.
•Dramatic Fanfare: Spoiler:By parrying off of the pink star projectiles, the player can land onto two hanging cherub props that control the chandelier in the background of the first phase. Standing on one will gradually lower it until a dinging sound is heard and the chandelier becomes slanted. Doing the same to the other cherub will cause the first phase to abruptly end and trigger an alternate storyline to the fight that was originally unfinished by the time the game was released. After both cherubs are lowered, Sally Stageplay's newlywed husband is crushed by the chandelier. Instead of changing the scenery to Sally's home, the second phase of the fight takes place at St. Timothy's Nunnery, implying that Sally became a nun. In place of Sally's husband worrying in the bushes for her is the Priest that oversaw their marriage, and a Nun takes the place of Sally's children to throw rulers at the player. In the third phase, a god form of Sally's husband accompanies Sally's goddess form and attacks by summoning a cherub, portrayed by Sally's son from the normal second phase of the fight, to push a spinning cardboard fireball towards the player. The fourth phase of the fight is unchanged from the normal path, but with the Nun appearing in the background in place of Sally's husband and children when on Expert mode.

One boss fight in "The Delicious Last Course" DLC also features a secret phase:

•Doggone Dogfight: Spoiler:During the second phase with the circling jetpack puppies, their jetpacks will produce white exhaust fumes when they have plenty of health, with the more damage taken turning it into gray exhaust to indicate that they have low health. If all four jetpacks are spewing gray exhaust at the same time with none of them having been defeated, the Dog Chinook will appear and eat them before grabbing the plane as if it were the normal third phase. However, the puppies and the Chinook pilot will appear in portholes on its paw pads instead of the laser satellites, where they throw regular and pink Pineapple Mint grenades that explode into shrapnel when they are hit. The Chinook pilot also appears and calls for the vessel to shoot homing fire hydrant missiles.

Attachment In a post from April 26, 2021 detailing the Version 1.10.0 update (which released two days later), Nintendo showed off a screenshot containing a villager house not seen in any previous revision of the game. While this led to speculation about possible new villagers, Nintendo clarified on their Japanese website the following day that this was done in error, and that this house would not be appearing in the update; the image was promptly replaced with an alternate screenshot.

Coincidentally, 16 villagers would be added in the Version 2.0 update, but none of them use the house seen in the removed screenshot.

Attachment Within the data for the itch.io Mac 1.00 version of Chapter 2 is an early version of "Faint Courage", written in a lower key and lacking certain instrumental tracks compared to the final arrangement. The filename for this rendition is "audio_menu.ogg", implying that it was originally written for the Chapter 2 main menu before being refitted for the game over screen. The released game instead uses "Faint Glow" (which is replaced with "Before the Story" after completing the chapter), titled "menu.ogg" in the game's files, for the main menu. All other releases and revisions of Chapter 2 remove this unused song from the game's data.
