Yakuza 2 features a side story called “The Enka Life” where an NPC sings a song titled "The Moonlight Snows of Kamurocho". In Yakuza 3, this song would go on to be one of the songs Kiryu can sing in the karaoke minigame under the name “Kamurocho Lullaby” and would continue to be used in select future entries.
This is the origin of the song (starts at 5:25):

Ryuu ga Gotoku Kenzan! allows you to briefly play as certain bosses in the series like Majima Gorohachi and Ito Ittosai in certain battle scenarios. This would mark the first time the Yakuza series would allow you to play as a character besides the main protagonist.

Star Fox Zero has a side mission in that can be accessed in Titania after obtaining the Landmaster's Flight upgrade. In this mission, you play as Peppy Hare, facing off against the Salvadora alone. Notably, every time Peppy performs a barrel roll, he literally shouts "barrel roll!". This is obviously a reference to his iconic line from Star Fox 64, "Do a barrel roll!" that has become an infamous internet meme over the years.
It's worth pointing out that this only occurs in the Western version of Zero, as Peppy remains silent even when barrel rolling in the Japanese version. This is because "Do a barrel roll!" never really became a meme in Japan, as Peppy has a different, less iconic line in the Japanese version of Star Fox 64 when instructing Fox how to roll: ローリングで弾くんだ!, which seems to translate to something along the lines of "use a rolling technique!".

The first Aparoid boss of Star Fox: Assault is a giant butterfly looking creature that appears at the end of the Fortuna mission. This particular Aparoid would reappear as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and also a spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, in both cases being dubbed simply as just "Aparoid".
The official Japanese Star Fox: Assault guidebook reveals this type of Aparoid to have a proper name: ゼグダリア (Zegudaria), or Zegdahlia as it's called by the provided English text.

As a reward for contributing a $100+ donation to the game's Kickstarter campaign, backers could choose to join a clan of their choice to appear under in the game's credits. Six "Sword or Whip" Clans (connected to a vote on if Miriam's personal weapon should be a sword or a whip) were dedicated to voting on which Sword or Whip weapon would become the most powerful weapon in the game (the winner being Clan Katana with the Grand Izayoi sword), while the remaining eighteen clans were Community or YouTube Partner Clans, who would receive a code for a clan-specific item.
The Community Clans were represented by two Castlevania fan communities: the Dungeon clan (The Castlevania Dungeon forums), and the Operation Akumajo clan (a Castlevania Facebook group spun off from The Castlevania Dungeon dedicated to promoting the series following its 25th anniversary in 2011). The YouTubers and other companies who participated in the last clan group were associated with Fangamer, a video game merchandising company who managed the Kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. To unlock one of the Community/YouTube Partner Clan items, you must enter its respective code as the name for your save file, and as such only one clan item can be unlocked per save file. The participating clans and their codes include:
Community Clans:
•The Castlevania Dungeon: DUNGEONITE - unlocks the Dungeonite sword
•Operation Akumajo: Akuma - unlocks the Dominus sword
YouTube Partner Clans:
•ProtonJon: EGGFARM - unlocks the Guardian Egg Helm (a reference to a line spoken by Albert Wesker in Resident Evil 5)
•chuggaaconroy: chuggaconroy - unlocks the Space Helmet (a reference to the helmet worn by Olimar from the Pikmin series)
•NintendoCapriSun: INTHEBATHROOM - unlocks the Dumping Helmet (a bathroom-themed in-joke from his content)
•JoshJepson: JEPSON - unlocks the Clockwork Blade (origin unknown)
•StephenPlays: STEPHENPLAYS - unlocks the Sicilian Slicer (a pizza-themed sword, Pizza both being the name of his dog and a recurring subject of vlogs)
•SwimmingBird941: swimmingbird - unlocks the Plague Doctor Face (possibly a reference to the anime "Cowboy Bebop", as series protagonist Spike Spiegel is referred to as "Swimming Bird" by a Native American medicine man named Laughing Bull)
•Far From Subtle: AWESOMEVIDEOGAMES - unlocks the Big Mustache (an in-joke from their series VideoGames AWESOME!)
•The Speed Gamers: TheSpeedGamers - unlocks the Final Hour sword (a speedrunning-themed sword)
•Egoraptor: Egoraptor - unlocks Hey I'm Grump (a helmet of Arin Hanson's stylized head from Game Grumps' intro)
•Game Grumps: Grumps - unlocks I'm Not So Grump (a helmet of Dan Avidan's stylized head from Game Grumps' intro)
•Mega64: Jarvis Meower - unlocks the Mega64 Helmet (a collage of various recurring in-jokes throughout Mega64's run)
•Kinda Funny Games: TEAMFAT - unlocks A Kinda Funny Mask (the company's logo, the code being a reference to the #TeamFat in-joke from one of their series)
•The Zaibatsu Clan (Super Best Friends Play): BULLFIGHTER - unlocks The-Baz Mask (a mask based on an original character created by Super Best Friends Play who has made cameo appearances in various indie games)
•AlphaOmegaSin: ALPHAOMEGASIN - unlocks the Darkness Descends sword (possibly a reference to the studio album of the same name by American thrash metal band Dark Angel, which AlphaOmegaSin has described as "one of my go-to albums")
•Game Sack: 8MEGAPOWER - unlocks the Game Sack Strip sword (a reference to an in-joke regarding various novelty power strips)
•Vinesauce: SPONGYVINE - unlocks the Vine Sword (a sword themed around Vinesauce game glitch/corruption content with a green mushroom [Vinesauce's logo, the "Vineshroom"] as the sword's helm). The name of the code is derived from Sponge, a recurring in-joke character from their streams who is depicted as the depressed third Mario brother.

During any cutscene where Bayonetta has a lollipop, if you hold down a specific button before the candy head of the lollipop first appears, you will gain the effect of a specific lollipop item available in the game's stores, and this is reflected in the cutscene by changing which lollipop flavor is shown:
• A for Green Herb lollipop (recover health)
• B for Bloody Rose lollipop (temporary damage boost)
• X for Purple Butterfly lollipop (recover magic)
• Y for Yellow Moon lollipop (gain armor)
It is pertinent that you press and hold the desired button before the candy part of the lollipop is actually seen in the cutscene to ensure the trick works. For example, in Chapter IV: The Cardinal Virtue of Fortitude, when Bayonetta walks into the colosseum, you can see that she is holding a lollipop, but you can only see the stick at first, meaning there's still time to perform the trick. If performed correctly, the lollipop head will be revealed as the one you have chosen. You can also skip the cutscene while still holding the button in order to keep the effect. Unlike normally using a lollipop item, performing this trick does not remove points from your score in a chapter.
Going off of the colors of each lollipop that are used for each face button, they match up with the Xbox 360 controller's color scheme, possibly being a remnant of Platinum Games primarily developing Bayonetta for the Xbox 360. This feature would not be carried over into subsequent Bayonetta games.

In an October 27, 2023 Kinda Funny Games podcast video with the Marvel's Spider-Man series creative director Bryan Intihar, he revealed that the side quest "Make Your Own Choices", where you chase after Black Cat through a series of portals she summons with the Wand of Watoomb, was taken from Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, a game that was also developed by Insomniac Games.
Intihar also stated that he wanted Miles Morales to interact with Black Cat for the side quest instead of Peter Parker, because Peter and Black Cat already interacted with each other a lot, so he tried to give Miles more interactions with her and make her care about Miles.

The dual-joystick control setup for the arcade version of Smash T.V. was similar to designer Eugene Jarvis' previous game Robotron: 2084, where one joystick controlled the player's movements while the other controlled the direction the player shoots in. The NES and SNES versions carried over this original control scheme in different ways. For the NES version, it can be accessed by plugging in two controllers, holding them vertically with the control pads facing the screen, and using both control pads as you would in the arcade version. This control scheme is also available to use with two players on the NES version, but requires four controllers plugged into a multitap like the NES Four Score. The dual control aspect of the game works more efficiently on the SNES version, as a single SNES controller has four main buttons, A, B, X and Y, that are laid out like an additional control pad. This enables the player to shoot in one direction while running in another, and also eliminates the need for a multitap if you want a second player to join in.

The Famicom release of Pac-Land has an unusual control scheme, where the player uses the B button to go left, the A button to go right, and the control stick to jump, resembling the layout of Pac-Land's original arcade cabinet. The player can use a more conventional Famicom platformer control scheme, using the control stick to go left and right and A or B to jump, by plugging the controller into the player 2 slot.

2D Nightmare is a extra minigame exclusively featured in the Nintendo GameCube version of the game. Its aesthetics are based on 'Picture City' from the original Rayman, and its intended unlock method is by connecting both the GameCube & Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3, with the latter version requiring that all levels are completed. However, due to a programming error in the GBA version, the final boss level of the game 'Heart of the Ancients' is never counted as complete due to the game not saving after the credits roll. It was assumed hacking via Action Replay codes was the only way to play 2D Madness. However, 20 years after both games released, it was discovered that the GBA version contains hidden in-game cheat codes.
On the game's world map screen, holding the Select button while inputting:
• R/A/A/A Unlocks All Powers
• B/B/B/A/A/A Gives 99 Lives
• UP/LEFT/DOWN/RIGHT/B/A/L/R Completes All Levels
• DOWN/UP/DOWN/UP/A/LEFT/B/RIGHT 100% Complete of Levels, Powers, Lums, Cages & 99 Lives
The last two cheat codes mark every level in the game as complete, including the final boss level. Entering either code will allow 2D Nightmare to be unlocked officially in the GameCube version without any hacks to access.

A side quest called "The Ballad of Jari and Somr" was made as a tribute to two devs that met and fell in love while working at Santa Monica Studios, Jake Snipes and Sam Handrick. This quest involves going to The Eternal Campfire to unlock it and then searching for ingredients to prepare a meal, an homage to the couples love of making meals together. The unfortunate catalyst for this addition to the game was the death of Jake Snipes in 2020.
