Assassin's Creed Revelations

Attachment Sofia, Ezio's love interest in the game, was based on the Albrecht Dürer painting "Portrait of a Young Venetian Woman," which Art Director Raphael Lacoste was very adamant about using as the basis of the character. The painting can be seen in the Memory "Portrait of a Lady," where you have to retrieve it.
Hudson's Adventure Island
1
The game started out as a port of the arcade game Wonder Boy. Although Escape had the rights to the game, Sega owned the rights to the main characters, bosses, and names, which meant that the NES version could not be a direct port. To get around the licensing issue, Hudson Soft changed the character sprites and names to create a brand new series.
Wolfenstein 3D
1
Attachment ID software originally held a contest where, if a player completed the insane secret maze in Episode 2, Floor 8, they would find a sprite that said "Call Apogee say 'AARDWOLF.'" The contest was cancelled because map editors were made for the game that allowed players to navigate through the maze much easier, trivializing the contest. In later versions, a certain part of the maze was blocked off and/or replaced the sign with a pile of bones.
Saints Row IV
1
If the player goes to a store called "Let's Pretend" and shoots a certain door, it will open, revealing a secret passage downstairs. The room contains the developer's heads, and if they are all shot, a gun called "Tiny Pistol" will appear. If fired, the gun will push you backwards. This is a reference to the gun "Noisy Cricket" from Men in Black, which when fired will also push you back.
Castle Crashers
1
On the level "Alien Ship", if the player goes left instead of right after being freed from their cell, they will see the game's producers in cryogenic stasis.
The Legend of Zelda

Attachment The third dungeon (of the first quest) is shaped like a left-facing swastika, a symbol most commonly known today for its affiliation with Nazism. In the game's manual, this shape is called a "manji", the Japanese word for swastika, and is in reality an ancient symbol used under varying meanings by many different Eurasian, African, and American religions and cultures for thousands of years prior to its adoption by the Nazi Party.
Klax
1
Attachment The developers of the game were given six weeks to finish porting the game to the Game Boy Color. Since Mike Mika and his friends finished with a few weeks to spare, they started putting Easter eggs in the game. One of these was a wedding proposal to Mike's then-girlfriend, Micki, who did not see it until Tips And Tricks Magazine told her to enter the code.
Divekick

The character S-Kill is modelled entirely after former Capcom community manager Seth Killian. His teleport move and kick are direct references to the character Seth from Super Street Fighter IV, who was also named after him.
Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Burning Earth
1
When questioned about the easiness of getting all 1000 Gamerscore for the game, Jon Cartwright, Director of Production at THQ, stated that it was because children were the targeted demographic for the game. They wanted to introduce kids to getting Achievements.

"If someone's been playing fighting games for years then the Achievements in "Avatar" are not going to challenge them too much. But again, we're not targeting that gamer. We tried to focus on the thrill a young kid would get when he/she receives his/her first Achievement. We feel having some easier Achievements make the whole Achievement system more accessible to a younger audience."
Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection
1
Kojima said "I'm sorry to say an Xbox 360 version isn't being released, because an Xbox 360 version of MGS4 hasn't gone on sale," Kojima pointed out. "To explain the situation, the amount of data in MGS4 is just too enormous." He also mentions it would take up several disks to port MGS4. Kojima also pointed out that he wouldn't consider releasing the Legacy bundle without MGS4 because, in his words, "If we released a version on the Xbox 360 without MGS4, then it's not The Legacy Collection."
DuckTales: Remastered
1
All of the surviving voice actors from the Duck Tales TV series reprised their roles for the game, including Alan Young, who was 93 at the time of recording.

Hal Smith (Flintheart Glomgold, Gyro Gearloose) passed away in 1994, while Hamilton Bob Camp (Fenton Crackshell/GizmoDuck) passed away in 2005, and Joan Gerber (Mrs. Beakley) in 2011. Thus other actors had to be found to voice their characters.
Fallout: New Vegas

Zion Canyon, from the Honest Hearts DLC, is based on Zion National Park, a favorite holiday destination of New Vegas lead designer Joshua Sawyer.

Franchise: Star Wars
1
In the more recent Star Wars games James Earl Jones does not voice Darth Vader. His voice is actually done by Matt Sloan of YouTube's "Chad Vader - Day Shift Manager" series. He voiced Vader in Star Wars - Empire at War: Forces of Corruption, Soul Calibur IV, and Force Unleashed 1 & 2.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
1
The reason that Snake was included in the game was to satisfy Hideo Kojima's son, who was a big fan of the series and wanted to see one of his father's characters in the game. Kojima was also hoping to expose younger players to the character as The Twin Snakes was the most recent Metal Gear game on a Nintendo platform. Kojima had also previously desired Snake to be in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Franchise: Toy Story
1
Attachment Jim Hanks, the brother of actor Tom Hanks, provides the voice for Woody, who his brother Tom plays in the films, in the video games and other Toy Story related media and merchandise.
Company: id Software
1
ID software actually created the first side scrolling platformer on a computer. Before then, computers had a hard time redrawing the background like the NES did. To solve this problem, John Carmack thought to just redraw the important parts of the background instead of the entire background. "Since the sky is always blue, why redraw it?" To test this out, him and his friends, John Romero and Tom Hall, recreated Super Mario Bros. 3 pixel by pixel, by hand, which they shipped to Nintendo hoping to gain authorization to make an official port. This would latter become the template to the game Commander Keen.
The Legend of Zelda
1
Attachment Former Nintendo of America president Minoru Arakawa was hesitant about releasing The Legend of Zelda in The United States, as he wasn't sure Americans would have enough patience to understand the game.

The following is an excerpt from "The Ultimate History of Video Games" by Steven Kent:

When the first prototypes of The Legend of Zelda arrived in the United States, Minoru Arakawa was not sure how people would respond to a complex game with text windows in it. He worries that perhaps the game was too complicated for American audiences. To test this out, he had several employees try the game. In order to give the game a fair chance, Arakawa arranged for Japanese-speaking workers to sit with American employees and translate any Kanji that appeared in the text boxes.

"It was all in Japanese, which made it really hard to play, but it was just so compelling that we kept playing it and playing it. The way the game mechanics worked, the fact that it did this great thing with that sword... It had great mechanics. Typical of Miyamoto, it had puzzles. You would come across things that would be on the island or behind a door or whatever, and you could see them, but you couldn't have them." - Howard Phillips

As he tested The Legend of Zelda on his employees, Arakawa noticed a disturbing trend. Most American workers who played the game did not warm up to it instantly. They all ended up giving the game high marks, but Arakawa noticed that some people needed as much as ten hours before they understood the game and enjoyed it.
