Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
1
Attachment Charizard, Incineroar, the Inklings, and Sonic the Hedgehog are the only characters that take continuous damage when in water. This is in reference to their respective series, as Sonic cannot swim, Inklings are instantly killed when they come in contact with water, Incineroar and Charizard are fire-type Pokémon which are weak against Water-based attacks.
Psychic Force
1
Originally, there were going to be different kinds of weapons in each stage that the player can pick up, but for unknown reasons, this idea was dropped
Portal 2

There are unused lines for Cave Johnson found within the games '.nut' files. The lines would've been used for a scene where the player finds an AI cube with Cave Johnson's conscious programmed inside it. He would meet GLaDOS and reveal that she indeed used to be Caroline and that he "volunteered" her to be a test subject to see if his conscious could be loaded into a machine. He would then continuously ask the player to kill him.

Grant Kirkhope, music composer for Rare at the time, reused songs he had composed for Rare's unreleased game Project: Dream for several other titles, including Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Donkey Kong 64 and Viva Piñata.
Company: Nintendo
1
According to Shigeru Miyamoto in a Keynote speech at the 2018 Computer Entertainment Developers Conference, the reason he and Nintendo never created an MMORPG game (and probably never will) is because he personally finds it boring and tiring to have to handle a game that needs constant updates and attention for an extremely large amount of time and would thus rather create a great number of unique games constantly over the same timespan.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
1
The voice clip used for when Snake plants a C4 is a clip that originally went unused in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

It was thought to have originally served the same purpose as it does in Ultimate.
Jak II
1
During development, early ideas for new eco powers revolved around time manipulation. Although unused in the final version of the game, these eco powers are present in a preview build - Jak would've been able to manipulate time by accelerating it (increasing his movement and firing speed), decelerating it (slowing enemies down), or stopping it altogether.
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
1
According to Eiji Aonuma, the "tilt-shift" effect was inspired by the original Game Boy version's "vast but small" world on the console's 66 mm screen.

"When I played the original Game Boy version, it was a small screen, and it felt like a small world, but very vast. And so, it kind of had this tilt shift perspective; so that's why I thought this diorama-like art style would be perfect for this."
Franchise: Dragon Ball
1
Webfoot Technologies managed to get the licence for Dragon Ball games purely by their CEO being at the right place at the right time.

The first Legacy of Goku title had the same development time as its two sequels, but the game's quality is noticeably lacking compared to its sequels. This is because the only people on the development team were a handful of programmers and an intern. The rest of the team that worked on the entire trilogy weren't actually hired until halfway through development of the original Legacy of Goku. A lot of their time after being hired was spent cleaning up and fixing what they could before release.

Everything made for the games, content not from the manga or anime, all came from Webfoot Technologies. Though the design doc had to be approved by Atari (publisher), Toei (licensor), and Nintendo. Everything they did required approval from all of them.

The team originally gave the games different names as well, with the second and third games being titled "Legacy of Goku 2: Future Shock" and Legacy of Goku 3: Buu's Fury" instead of Dragon Ball Z: Legacy of Goku 2 and Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury.
Tales of Berseria

In the Windows PC version, there exists several maps within the game's files that go unused. When loaded in game, none of the area's warps can be used and the player cannot interact with anything. The menu also lists an unused mini game title called "TEIKOI Game". It is unclear what type of game this would have been as when loaded into the game the map is nothing but a blank screen.
Tekken 7
1
According to series producer Katsuhiro Harada, Morrigan Aensland from Darkstalkers was considered as a guest character for the game, but the idea was dropped after realizing making the character could take a lot of time.
Jak II
1
Attachment Design documents show that the relation between Jak and Mar was to be explored in more depth before the end of the game. In early plot revisions, Jak and Sig would discover Mar was a time traveller who vanished after founding the city.
Mar's time travelling device would've been found in the Underport.
Jak II
1
Attachment The earliest iteration of Dark Jak would've made him faster, completely invincible and able to use items that would otherwise hurt Jak.
This would come with the added drawback of always ending the transformation with one hit point left.
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
1
Max Casella's role as Daxter stemmed from lead animator Josh Scherr's suggestion to cast him, citing his work as Zini in Dinossaur.
Scherr had worked as an animator for the movie before joining Naughty Dog.
Jak 3
1
In an earlier version of the game's plot, it was Jak's Light Eco transformation that would cause the Day Star to appear in the sky. In it, the Precursors would come to rebuild the planet and declare that only the fittest species would be allowed to remain. In this iteration, Spargus and Haven were warring factions.
Mother 3
subdirectory_arrow_right EarthBound 64 (Game)
1
Mother 3+, the game's physical soundtrack, contains a remix of Big Shot's theme. This remix is heavily based on the theme used in the trailer for Earthbound/Mother 64. The track's name, "A Great Person Theme", instead of "Big Shot's Theme", suggests that this particular version of the song was created earlier in the game's development, possibly when it was still planned to be a 64DD game.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
1
In a “Making of” video, game director Koshi Nakanishi stated that the Bakers were originally going to have a pet dog named Diane that would have appeared at the dinner scene, but she was cut early in development.

In the Pokedex, it's stated that Yungoos and its evolved form Gumshoos aren't native to the Alola region but imported from another country. It's implied that they were brought to Alola to get the Rattata and Raticate population under control but they rarely see each other because Yungoos and Gumshoos are diurnal while Rattata and Raticate are nocturnal.

This is a reference to when the state of Hawaii had a problem with Polynesian rats eating up sugar cane crops in the 1800s. They imported Small Asian Mongooses to kill the rats. However, while the rats were able to adapt to being strictly nocturnal, the mongooses stayed strictly diurnal. Because of this, both species have become a major problem in Hawaii.
